Watts Bar Lake Family Photoshoot | July 2026

I photographed this Watts Bar Lake family photoshoot on the dock of their vacation rental. If you haven’t considered getting an extended family photoshoot during your vacation, this is your sign.

How often do you have your family together? For most, busy lives, differing schedules and distance can make it difficult. On vacation you’re all in the same place, making it easier to coordinate. It also gives you a wonderful memory of your trip to hold onto for years to come. You don’t even need to squeeze into cars to drive to a location. I offer travel out to families.

Once thing I’ve learned since moving from Montana to Tennessee, is that the summer weather can be quite unpredictable with storms. This sessions started out with a soft cloud coverage and by the end was sprinkling. Did this hold us back from great images? No. Although, there was rain, I had clear umbrellas on standby just in case the weather escalated. You can’t even tell that it was sprinkling in the pictures. Also, it helped to cool us down in the hot, humid summer weather which I can’t complain about.

This session was the perfect blend of candid and more posed images. I enjoy getting a mixture of images that give a family’s gallery variation. More candid images of children and dog are typically my favorites! These images tend to capture a child’s natural smile.

I had a wonderful time capturing this family. This also may have ended with a couple of family members jumping into Watts Bar Lake leading to laughter among the family.
