You’ve just gotten engaged and it’s time to plan your wedding! Now it’s time to schedule your engagement photos. When is it too early or too late to book a session before your wedding? If you’re not sure when to take engagement photos, this is a good place to start!
Photoshoots are scheduled just about anytime between first getting engaged and your wedding day. It’s the perfect way to get comfortable in front of the camera. There’s a lot going on during a wedding day. Getting pictures helps you feel more confident going into photos on your wedding day and the images are perfect for announcing to friends and family! Remember, getting photos doesn’t have to feel awkward or stressful!
I recommend photoshoots within 2-3 months of getting engaged. However, they can be taken anytime up until your wedding.
If you’re planning to use the images for your save-the-dates, plan engagement photos at least 9-10 months before your wedding. It’s most common to send out save the dates 6-8 months before a wedding.
Engagement gallery delivery timelines vary among photographers. For example, I promise my clients photos in 2 weeks, whereas some photographers may say 1 month. Account for gallery delivery timelines and shipping for cards to your home.
Each season has its benefits, so you really can’t go wrong! There’s no question why the spring and summer are popular for photos with sunshine and fresh flowers. The fall and winter are just as beautiful with colorful leaves and snow! You can get great images in any season! I always tell couples that what matters most of the light. If there is soft lighting for images, the location isn’t as important.
