Senior girls, have you considered dresses for senior pictures? They are flattering on anyone and there are a variety of styles to choose from. For instance, style, length, pattern, and color. I recommend bringing at least one dress to your senior portrait session.
Most of my seniors will pick a trendier, casual outfit with a t-shirt or sweater and jeans in addition to bringing a dress. You can’t dress up too much for photos! Find one that makes you feel confident and you will look beautiful.
The length of your dress is important! To feel comfortable on camera and look relaxed, you need to feel good in the dress. Skip dresses that don’t fit well. You won’t feel your best, making you visibly uncomfortable in images.
For example: too loose, tight, short or long
Here’s a good test for dress length. Try sitting in the dress. For your senior pictures, you will be doing a mixture of sitting and standing photos. If you keep pulling it down while you’re sitting, it’s going to be too short.
Dresses with floral and stripe patterns look fantastic in photos. Larger patterns photograph best. There’s a strange optical illusion that happens with small patterns known as moiré. It’s common with tiny stripes, checks, and dots. Keep this in mind when searching for your dress.
As for color, you can’t go wrong with lighter neutrals and pastels. They look perfect in any location!
Accessories can make an outfit. Depending on how formal or casual the dress is, you’ll want to adjust your shoe selection. However, booties, sandals, and wedges usually pair nicely with dresses. Additionally, necklaces, earrings, rings, and hats make an outfit photo-ready.
